Till now you all must have read several blogs and articles regarding windows 8,
so why would you read mine…. Umm.. no new reason as such.. But one thing I can
guarantee if you are looking for some common views not technical, just simply
as seen by a common user, this is the place to be…
When I saw the Official Teaser of Windows 8(sorry for being a
little filmy).. I was super Duper Excited, the way it was shown in that video..
Uff… I was desperately waiting for the developers preview to launch so that I
can roll my screen like that.. and truly speaking the first impression was
Good..
Windows 8 splashes you with the Tiles interface or simply the
“Metro” Style interface as called by the “Microsoft People”. This is definitely
a thumbs up for me. Windows 8 gives the user a tablet like interface trying to
connect the Mobile and the tablet world with the “Portable computers” (believe
me that’s the best word I could search for Pc’s and laptops). Windows 8 gives
the user a whole new era of Operating System with the facilities like dragging
the mouse from the top left corner to do snap multitasking(running two or more
apps side by side), organizing all the system programs and applications(as
previously we used to see everything under ALL PROGRAMS) under “All apps”, providing
some default apps like Weather forecasting, news and a lot more. So simply is
it an “Eye Candy” for the first time.
Apart from all these starters, of course these are starters; the
main course still awaits…
ü Windows 8 comes with
enchantingly new features like The new animation-enabled user interface (UI).
The new start menu is customizable through a pattern of tiles, which differ
from the old viewing desktop icons by letting you view all the live information
from Windows 8 metro style apps without accessing them.
ü Windows 8 allows you to
integrate with your “Microsoft Accounts” so that your accounts are not only up
to your systems, you can take them wherever you go i.e. user will not
lose their settings and files as they move to another system also using Win8.
ü Hehe.. the office boys are
back in the town… means The new Windows Explorer has the new looks of Microsoft
office using the “ribbon interface” with exciting new features and enhanced
commands & operations.
ü Touch interface, sensor
support, improved Narrator.
ü The task Manager is new
too.. with giving a more detailed version of every process running and system
resources being used.
ü The file management system
of Win 8 is also enhanced as compared to the older versions of windows as copy
can be paused and the details gives really a lot of details.
ü Other features include
short boot time, built-in support of USB 3.0, new Internet explorer, enhanced
Video & audio players, SkyDrive Integration, Windows store and
the “Picture Password”.
So this
was the good part and eventually some bad part will also be there ..
Arguably the most controversial thing of Windows 8 is the new
start screen, which is Microsoft's new way of starting and managing
apps.Although win 8 is designed for touch interface the non-touch user will
eventually feel bored dragging things here and there. The Old classic
traditional desktop lovers will not find the old desktop that old. Switching
between screens is not so easy.
I
would like to conclude by saying that this new hybrid Window architecture
prevails for some while others like it the old way. The graphics are really
good and the optimizations and the new features introduces are good but the
some people still Like “their old – Gold desktop”. Definitely- “The Windows is
for tablet PCs but for laptop and desktop user there is still scope for
improvement. Introducing apps and Windows market place/store was a
thumbs up for application developers.
So
overall a good windows but the final choice is yours.. whether you Accept or
decline it….
